MISTY CLASSEN, MS LPC-ASSOCIATE
"I believe healing often begins in the moments we finally feel safe to slow down, breathe, and understand our story with greater compassion."
"Many of the people I work with have spent years carrying emotional pain quietly — often without having language for it, and often believing the weight was simply who they are."
Sometimes it looks like anxiety, emotional overwhelm, relationship struggles, burnout, or self-doubt. Sometimes it comes from experiences that were minimized, misunderstood, or never fully named. Over time, those experiences can shape the way we see ourselves, our relationships, and the world around us.
If any of that feels familiar, you are in the right place.
MY APPROACH

Therapy is not about fixing who you are. It's about understanding yourself more deeply and moving forward.
My approach to counseling is warm, relational, and emotionally focused. I believe therapy is not about fixing who you are. It is about creating space to better understand yourself, your experiences, and the patterns that may no longer be serving you.
Healing often begins when we start approaching ourselves with curiosity instead of shame.
I came to this work because I understand what it feels like to carry something heavy for a long time, especially without fully having language for it. That understanding shapes how I show up in session: with patience, compassion, genuine curiosity, and a deep respect for each person’s story and pace.
I believe meaningful change happens over time. Often, it begins by understanding how past experiences continue to shape emotions, relationships, beliefs, and patterns in the present. My work is insight-oriented and collaborative while also remaining practical, supportive, and grounded.
I draw from Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Family Systems Theory, Trauma-Informed approaches, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Narrative Therapy. Above all, I believe therapy should feel human, emotionally safe, and tailored to the individual sitting across from me rather than rigid or one-size-fits-all.
