Telehealth Counseling

Wherever you are in Texas, support is available. I offer secure, HIPAA-compliant telehealth sessions

so that getting the care you deserve fits your actual life.

"Many of my clients find that having the option to be in their own space actually makes it easier to open up."

Telehealth counseling means we meet over a secure video platform — you from wherever you feel most comfortable, and me from my private home office. Sessions feel like in-person therapy in nearly every way that matters. The connection, the conversation, and the care all travel through the screen just fine.

GETTING STARTED

How It Works

DEVICE

Any smartphone, tablet, laptop, or desktop computer with a camera and microphone

01

Schedule Your Consultation

Book a free 15-minute consultation. You'll receive a confirmation email with everything you need to get started.

A stable internet or WiFi connection — the same you'd use for a video call

INTERNET

02

Schedule your first session

If the consultation feels right for both of us, we'll find a time that works for both our schedules and get you set up in the client portal.

Any smartphone, tablet, laptop, or desktop computer with a camera and microphone

03

Complete Your Intake Paperwork

Before your first session, you will receive intake paperwork through the SimplePractice client portal to complete securely online. This includes your informed consent, privacy notice, and a brief intake questionnaire. Completing your paperwork prior to your first session is required — it ensures we meet all legal and ethical obligations and allows us to make the most of our time together from the very first session.

A stable internet or WiFi connection — the same you'd use for a video call

04

Join Your Session

At your appointment time, click the secure link in your confirmation email or client portal. No downloads required — it runs directly in your browser. If you have any technical difficulties, I will reach out to you directly.

05

Begin Our Work Together

In your first session we get to know each other, explore what brought you here, and begin identifying the patterns, experiences, and strengths that shape your life. There is no pressure to have it all figured out. We start exactly where you are and move at your pace.

Telehealth works well for...

Online therapy isn't a compromise — for many people it's actually the preferred way to work. It tends to be a particularly good fit if any of these feel familiar.

  • You live in a rural area or far from a therapist whose work resonates with you

  • You feel more comfortable opening up while being in your own space

  • You are a military spouse navigating frequent moves or unpredictable schedules

  • You have a busy schedule and need flexibility around work, childcare, or military life

  • Driving to an office adds stress or barriers to getting consistent support

  • You simply prefer the convenience and privacy of meeting from home

What You Need

Getting set up is simple. You don't need to download any special software — just a few basics and you're ready to go.

SPACE

A private, quiet location where you feel comfortable speaking freely

Your privacy is protected.

I use SimplePractice for all telehealth sessions. SimplePractice is a platform specifically designed for mental health providers that meets HIPAA standards for security and privacy.

Your sessions are conducted through an encrypted, secure video connection. They are never recorded without your explicit consent, and your personal health information is never shared with third parties.

Confidentiality is a cornerstone of the therapeutic relationship. Everything shared in session is protected by law, with a small number of legal and ethical exceptions — including situations where there is risk of harm to yourself or others, suspected abuse or neglect, or a court order. These limits will always be reviewed with you before we begin working together.

I am licensed to provide telehealth counseling to clients located anywhere in the state of Texas. At the time of each session, you must be physically present within Texas.

Common Questions About Telehealth

Is telehealth as effective as in-person therapy?

Research consistently shows that telehealth is as effective as in-person therapy for most concerns, including trauma, anxiety, and relationship issues. Many clients find they actually open up more easily from the comfort of their own space.

What if I have technical difficulties during a session?

It happens occasionally. If we lose connection, I will call you at the phone number on file so we can continue the session by phone or reschedule if needed. Technical issues are never counted against your session time.

Do I need to be in Texas for telehealth sessions?

Yes — I am licensed in Texas and can only provide services to clients who are physically located in Texas at the time of the session. This is a licensing requirement, not a platform limitation.

Can couples do telehealth together?

Yes. Couples sessions work very well over telehealth. Both partners join from the same location, or occasionally from separate locations if circumstances require. We can discuss what works best for your situation.

How do I access my session?

You will receive a secure link through the SimplePractice client portal before each session. Simply click the link at your appointment time — no downloads required. You can also access it directly through the client portal on your phone or computer.
